The Best Age For Disney World When To Take Kids

Parents often find themselves trying to figure out the ideal age to take their kids to Disney World. While people of all ages can enjoy the park, is there a range that is considered “the best age” for Disney World? Here, we will explore the factors to consider when deciding the perfect age range for your Disney adventure.

Check out our “Best Age to Take Kids to Disney” facts and suggestions.

Maximizing Your Experience: Best Age to Visit Disney World

When planning a trip to Disney World, cost is often a major consideration. Fortunately, there is some good news for your wallet. More or less, the younger your kids are, theme park tickets will cost less and the less expensive their meals will be. Here’s some information regarding ticket prices:

  • Children ages 0 to 2 years old – free admission.

  • Children between three and nine years old qualify for child tickets (slightly discounted compared to adults). Kids in this range also tend to eat smaller and more affordable meals available on dedicated kids’ menus at various dining locations.

  • Children age 10 and older switch to adult prices for both tickets and meals.

Height Requirements

The Best Age

Another factor to consider is that certain rides have height requirements. While most kids, regardless of age, love the excitement and magic of Disney, it’s worth noting that some of the more thrilling rides have height restrictions. If your adventurous kids may be disappointed by the restrictions, it might be wise to wait until they are taller. But even without these fast-paced rides, Disney offers a plethora of attractions that kids of all ages (and heights) can enjoy.

Here are the rides with height requirements at each Disney theme park:

  • Magic Kingdom – Tron, Barnstormer, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, Tomorrowland Speedway
  • Epcot – Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Mission: SPACE (orange side and green side), Soarin’, Test Track

  • Animal Kingdom – Avatar Flight of Passage, DINOSAUR, Expedition Everest, Kali River Rapids

  • Disney Hollywood Studios – Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Star Wars: The Rise of the Resistance, Aliens Swirling Saucers, Rock ‘n Roller Coaster, Star Tours, Slinky Dog Dash, Tower of Terror

Ah Yes, I Remember It Well

Besides height restrictions, another consideration is whether your child will remember the Disney trip. If you want your child to recall the experience, it’s recommended to wait until they are at least four or five years old. Children under five may not remember that much but taking lots of pictures can help preserve the memories for them as they grow older. What’s more, even if your child doesn’t remember, you will still have a wonderful family vacation and create lasting memories.

Here’s the ideal age range for each Disney theme park:

  • Disney’s Magic Kingdom – Best for Ages 3+

  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Best for Ages 5+
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Best for ages 5+

  • Walt Disney World Epcot – Most desirable age range is 5+

With all of that said, is there truly a best age to visit Disney World? We’ll leave that up to you.
